Trying to reduce some stock and time for this to go.
This was dug from my parents garden last winter (not the one just past), and has had no root work or foliage work since. It used to flower regularly before being dug but cannot remember what colour sorry.
Has had a recent feed, some preventative confidor and curl grub killer (a couple of other plants in the same area had a few curl grubs)
Plenty of new strong growth
Pickup from Currans hill, or for an extra $10 can drop off to the following locations/times:
-southern highlands tomorrow
-concord area Tuesday am
Penrith area Tuesday afternoon

Try sendle. Really quick and cheap tracked delivery. Max 25 kilo and 100L. Max length 1.2m. If sending with soil in pot place a plastic around the trunk and pot and sticky tape it down. Loads of crumpled up paper between branches and stuff. A big red sign saying this way up PLEASE. Please is the keyword and maybe a hello and can of drink for the driver picking up with a friendly request. Goes a long way.

I think it's a little too stressful to transport such a good looking plant.

Why?
If you want to transport I would defoliate completely and then wrap the pot in cloth to make sure no soil is dislodged and to hold root ball in place, and to retain moisture

Not much branching per se that i can see, so probably cut them all off as well to reduce damage.
if you have branching you need to keep protected then you need to box up the entire tree and tie in to make sure nothing breaks the branches.

better to ship in winter as less chance of drying out in transit, but express post or courier shoud be OK for a day or 3

Shipping does not seem to be particularly stressful on the plants. I am amazed at how much moisture is retained when I wrap the pot in a plastic bag and put the plant in a cardboard box. Maybe the plants do not use much water when it is dark? After a week the potting mix feels like it was watered yesterday but the trees outside need water every second day.

How much would shipping cost for something that big and fragile?

Depends on the weight usually. Reduce the root mass to lighten the load
Check the courier sites for pricing details

Most delivery options use a pricing system called 'cubing' If it is small and heavy you pay by weight. If it is larger but lighter they charge by volume.

I've estimated the size as 60cmx30cmx70cm tall and weight at 8kg. Cost from Penrith to Brisbane quoted as $48.50. I'd assume that other carriers would charge around the same rates to be competitive. Many common carriers will not accept live cargo including plants.
There are specialist plant transport companies but I have not had anything to do with them because they are not in my area.

I am looking for a mature wisteria. Still up for sale?

Would you reduce the root mass in a tree like this that had been dug last year-or still to early in its potted life to do that?
Thanks for the estimates Neil, maybe a little heavier than 8kg but good ball park figure for future reference as well
