Not too far off 3 years since I chopped this beast down. Time for a trim, a nice pot and a solid root prune.

What a beauty. I really love the old style bougies, smarty pants is just a bit boring, in comparison...

Cheers Kevin and Mel :) can't wait to get it into a proper pot, just have to source the right one now. Will post a pic once all the hard work has been done, hopefully some time in the next month. Pot suggestions are most welcome.

As far as I know all three bonsai nurseries in Brisbane sell the very large pots. Pretty sure they're mostly unglazed, from memory....but they start at around $200 and go up, of course!

Picked up a pot for this on the weekend, I'm hoping it will be deep enough. I finish work at 11 today, gonna grab some beers on the way home and get to work on the trimming, root pruning and repotting. The pot I sourced for it is beautiful and was not expecting to get something of this quality and glazed. The pot wasn't for sale but after hearing the description of what I was looking for, Chris from red dragon brought out one from his private collection and I had to have it. Will hopefully post some before and afters if all goes to plan this arvo. Can't wait to get home and get into it.

Just took these photos now so its been 3 day since the repot. I had to cut it back fairly hard to get it into the new pot, but there were plenty of fine roots and it's doing great, no sign of stress whatsoever and it's been pretty hot in briz the last few days. Cant wait for a new show of flowers in the next couple of months to really compliment the new pot. Not even being 3 years yet since it was a bare stump i'm pretty happy with the progress. Still a long way to go though. If anyone knows much about the chop would be very interested. I believe it's Japanese but forgot the name of the artist? It measures 90cm from top of pot.

will do Mel. It always makes me realise how much more work needs to be done on a tree after you give it a really good clip. Will be looking completely different in 6 weeks.
