PJ over rock

Started this one as a cutting Spring 2015. In January 2016 decided to place the tree over a rock, tied the roots down and buried in a large container.

Repotted over the weekend, amazed at how well the roots had grown and fused to the rock, really happy with the result. Tidied up the roots, removed crossing roots etc. re-tied and buried again for another season. In spring 2017 will start exposing the surface of the rock.

Great progress in a little over a year. Love a nice root over rock and this one seems like it's on the right track. Looking forward to seeing an update in another year :tu:

Thanks both for the comments.

Anthony, the rock is not too bad actually, around 30cm in height and pretty well balanced, lot lighter than some of my trees

When I finally get to planting, envisage a shallow oval container and the rock outcrop, might place some smaller rocks around this one to create a landscape, although that might take some convincing with a single tree. Will need to add some tie down points to prevent toppling over. Haven't give the final design too much thought at present, waiting to see which direction the tree takes me in.
