Propagation from seed

I recently came into possession of a variety of different seeds. Now, I'm very keen to begin propagation of them, and thought it could be a good chance to document propagation from seed methods for a few different trees at the same time. I haven't found any specific threads for the varieties I have either, so I was thinking I might start a "Propagation from seed" thread for each species.

The seeds I have are:
  • Japanese Black Pine
  • Casuarina
  • Melaleuca
  • Turpentine Syncarpia Glomulifera
  • Japanese Maple Acer Palmatum Rubrum
  • Wisteria (Mauve flower, potential cross-pollination)
  • Wisteria (White flower, potential cross-pollination)
(As you can see, I have varying degrees of detail about exactly what I have!)

I have already germinated the Wisteria seeds, and potted them in a small seedling tray. I believe I know what to do with the Melaleuca too, but the others are a complete mystery so far!

So, any hints? Should I start separate threads for each variety? Do threads exist that I have somehow not discovered?

P.S.
This is in the "Natives" section, as the "Exotics" section doesn't have a "Propagation" sub-topic. Also, half of them are natives :P
If I created a separate thread for each variety, I would categorise them properly ;)

hey mate, i think seperate threads would make things easier on the fact you will get different answers for different species :)

i am just about to do some maples myself. and i have started the process, so with that one i can help :)

Best way to start is plant them...

As they say " they wont germinate sitting on a shelf"

as some of you may know maple seed need stratifying. i am in the process of it and documenting it myself. there is a bit involved but pretty much straight forward too :)

so japh if you are gonna do seperate threads then maybe i can use that thread for my attempt at germination and growing from seed :)

Ok! I will start separate threads shortly :)

start a thread for each different process and link back to this one

eg those that need srtifying, Those that don't

good call there mate, that way if people see this thread they can go directly to the link of what seed propagation techniques are used :D

Yep, great suggestion! That was the plan, just putting some posts together :)

Ok, so everyone can find them, related seed propagation topics can be found here: I've attached seed photos to all topics too :)
