P.J Fig development

These have been developed from cuttings taken several years ago from my Ishitsuki . They are of the same stock 2 had sacrifice branches and the other didn't ,
Cheers Alpineart
no real exceptional giryh on the two with sacrifice branches in fact 1 has the smallest trunk of all 4 . The original trunk with 3 sacrifice branches used had a slightly larger girth by around 2-3 mm however it was wired at the base for movement which was more likely the contributor .The next largest 2 trunks never had sacrifice branches used and all were potted watered and fertilized the same , and grown in the hothouse next to each other Do sacrifice branches fatten trunks more , not in the case , This little trial wasn't about sacrifice branches it was about developing wavy radial roots like the old Morton Bay Figs . Anyway I root pruned and re-potted these from the recycled metal roofing trays to recycled plastic pot trays , they are much deeper and I will continue to work on the root development as planned .Cheers Alpineart
