these are some of the Yamadori collected over the last 15 years , Pinus Nigra Austriaca - Austrian Black Pine

and Cedrus Atlantica - Atlas cedar

, { outa sight outa mind } behind the hot house . I think I'll leave this one here .
P1120437.JPG
. Most were collected as young self sown wildlings and potted into 100 plastic pots , a few years ago I re-potted them into planter bags and spare pots and have had possibly 1 trim , little or no ferts and bugger all regular water over the last couple of years . I thought it was time for some well earned care {too much spare time }so a quick ferts , moved to a more desirable position and a good soaking .

These Pinus Nigra Maratima - Maritime Pine were collected with Fiveoffive {also a member of our club} around 5-6 years ago as 50mm self sown seedlings with just the first pair of blue needles ,

amazing what a little care can do .
Over the coming days I may just get a bit motivated to hack them into shape .

Isn't it funny that when you are into bonsai you can't say no to another tree!

Hi Daluke , mate 99.9% of the material here is collected or grown so the collected material is prized moreso for its unique character . When I moved here I only had a couple of tree's and they too were collected , I guess its the challenge of finding the ultimate trunk . I have looked at tens of thousands of yamdori in them there hills but collected only a few dozen , each having its own unique character .
Getting a bit long in the tooth for yamadori hunting , however I have along with a member from our club located another test plot that has many old weather beaten natural unique trunks . Come Winter it will be all or nothing to collect a few older trunks .

Hi Kevin , mate the old bench is buggered , the timber has rotted so it's time to scrap it . I hope to have another 40 meters of retaining wall finished , that will replace the old timber framed bench area 10 fold

.
Cheers . Alpine

P1120444.JPG
some very basic hook and hold wires

P1120447.JPG
P1120448.JPG
P1120449.JPG
This is very poor material
P1120451.JPG
P1120452.JPG
hack , chop and a basic wire

Well that took all of 30 minutes of my day , I did spend a few hours on a couple of claret tops but that's another story along with a major trim an a Trident .
