Can anybody tell me where I can get bulk confidor tables. I have found a place on line with a different name but containing the same active ingredient, but it a large amount. Do they have a use by date.

Garden City plastics at Sommerby near the Central Coast have a generic Brand named Initiator, I have a container with 300 in it and they come in a larger size,bought them a long time agao so cannot remember the price

That is the brand I found. I think they were $89 for 750 gms,, which going on the ones I have been getting from Woolworths is about 300 tablets. I might see if anybody else in our club wants some if it is that number.
I have an insect in my garden that completely strips my plants overnight including olives, natives and figs.

My thoughts as well Joel. If that was happening here I'd be thinking possum rather than insects.
It would certainly be worth going out into the yard with a torch to see what's there after dark.

No Possums. the dogs would go off their heads if a possum was in the yard. I did find a large caterpillar on the olive, and small swarming grubs on on of the figs. Haven't caught what ever is eating the natives.

An insecticide should be a last resort. A systemic insecticide should be the last of the last resorts. A slow release systemic insecticide should really not be an option at any stage in my opinion. Certainly not before you've identified the pest and tried other controls.

If there were enough insects to defoliate many trees, you'd see them. That biomass has to go somewhere. Not only that but I can't imagine one insect species consuming that many different plants. I strongly suspect you have a possum problem. They can be very sneaky and used to get my trees when I had a very alert Jack Russell.

Are you able to post photos of the damage? The pattern on the chewed margins of remaining leaves could give an indication of what species you need to control for.

This is my opinion too.
Joel, IMO has given you extremely good advice.
The damage these chemicals do to your local ecosystem can be unnecessarily more detrimental than beneficial.
Pictures will definitely help members identify your menace.
