Hello again and welcome to the next virtual competition.

We had a heap of entries last month and the competition was hot.

I hope to see many entries this month.

I think this one will be quite a challenge.

An english elm - I will get dimensions shortly.

Brilliant, Leigh! I'm hoping to get an entry in this time.

Are there rules for these competitions around somewhere?

Also, there's a small typo in your post

ok guys, this is about 3-4 hours work, meticulously drawing out fingers for the branching copying and pasting, phew.

will probly put another entry in a bit laterr down the track when i find another tree in this amazing bit of stock, probly when its in full flush of leaf. if i can see another tree in it
i sort of find it easier to photoshop a deciduous tree in its winter appeal then in leaf. i can never seem to get the leaves to sit right..

ohwell here it is. i got this one out of pic...wow i cant even remember which one...lol.

This my entry. I chose the last pic. Hope you like it. ( It isn't that great quality because of my computer but you get the idea)

heres my 2nd entry. the stump on the left would be carved and dead wood. i chose the 3rd picture for this one.( again this isn't the best quality)

I picked this tree out of the group Leigh had brought in. I was drawn to the trunks and their movement. I think they are important to the overall design. There are some interesting issues that would need to be addressed, one being the chop marks on the the top sections. Remembering the many English Elms around Adelaide Zoo, large wounds rot out and form interesting Uro's.

For inspiration Google images has some nice examples.

Thought this would be fun to have a go at. Please keep in mind that I am fairly new at this. I hope this photobucket link works.
My entry shows the bigger of the trunks cut down and fused to the other with a uro at the join to make a more pronounced taper.

i have decided to do another one, different from my first entry, i like it one with foliage and one with out just to show where i got it from

Hi guys!

I used the last pic, and only the closest trunk. First removed the branches and second trunk, and rotated the other one slightly. Then added a nebari. . . . I'm just assuming there's a nice one hiding under the dirt! I'm assuming back-shooting will occur, and these branches will result. (Note: The bare pic is just a pic through progression, the one with foliage is the one I'm submitting).

So this is what it looks like after adding a bit of foliage!
