Just looking for anyone who owns Japanese pines in Qld around Brisbane would be perfect :D

Heard they need care at very specific times depending on your climate so would really appreciate some advice from locals

Thanks :)

Red pine have issues in Brisbane? Do you know what sort

What are the best months to prune / pluck / trim / feed blah blah in QLD... timing is important with pines no? Was hoping someone local might have some QLD / brisbane specific care information

Hi Wal,

There are a few at Bonsai Northside, I'm sure you'd get some good tips from visiting them there. Good excuse to get some more trees too

Cheers,
Nigel

Management of pines depends what you are trying to achieve. Growing and developing phase uses different techniques from the final ramification and maintenance phase.
I've heard that the longer growing season up north allows black pines to grow several cycles each year so you can decandle, etc a couple of times each year where we only get one cycle because of the shorter season.

Would you happen to know the months that you can decandle more than once up here? Or know of anyone who does

Grant Bowie may have some info from the black pine longitudinal study we ran a few years ago.

You are a long way from here Wal, I don't know too many of the growers up that way.
Give them some time to notice this and respond.
Better still, your local clubs will be the best spot to find those people.
