I got this one from a normal nursery in the pot it's in, because I saw it's potential fora nice little cascade style. I've given it a major haircut, removed some branches (large and small) and will be wiring it in the next week or two. I'll repot it into a new pot next year, cause I don't like this one with this tree. The height including the pot is 21cm.

hey mate, if this were mine i would be ripping him out of that pot and putting it in a grow pot for some nice strong growth to get that foliage filling out.
once you got a whole heap of new growth then i would look at wiring and i would watch out for that bar branching, third branches up from the bottom. these can cause some major swelling in the trunk where they grow from

and wiring now wont hurt, even if it goes in a grow box or pot, remember to feed it like crazy to get it going

The only thing with this one si I don't want it to get much bigger, just fill out with some foliage, and maybe back along the branches if possible, to shorten them a bit.
Yeah, I was a bit worried about the bar branch as well man. I might remove one side.

If you pot larger and grow on as suggested, it will fill out, improve health wise and you can then select for the small bonsai that you want. At the moment it is looking hardly done by and wants a lot of TLC. I would not worry about it growing 'larger'. The thing is to get is fuller and any new growth will only start increasing the trunk as well.

The pot is actually quite lovely - assuming it is not cracked as it looks. Would be nice with a white azalea or some other flowering cascade planted in it. Thoughts for the future....

Health of the tree is a good point. I only picked up this tree a couple of weeks ago, and it hadn't been very well looked after. I'm trying to nurse it to full health at the moment =)
I do have a couple of spare larger 200mm pots i can put it in for a while =)

And I do agree about the pot being very nice, and I too, think it would suit a small, white flowering tree, just not this juniper =) Just need to find a flowering something that I can make into a cascade now!

This one has been in a 200mm growing pot with fresh soil for a few weeks now. The health of the tree has improved noticeably. It's getting lots of new growth and looking much healthier =) I might take a pic of it on the weekend if I remember.
I've got Tess at Bonsai Northisde keeping an eye out for a nice new pot for it. She's knows what I want for it.

give it a couple of years, then think on it mate this grow pot will help a lot. it will make it so much healthier you wont beleive it
