Has anyone had any success within these? Small & fast growing, prunes well.

Great Balls of Fire is a C. salignus selection. Like most other Callistemon it should be great for bonsai. The red tips may not give the same striking contrast when you have smaller areas of foliage and you will regularly remove them as you prune to shape. C. salignus flowers are normally yellow.

Great Balls of Fire is reluctant to flower & is primarily grown for the stunning new foliage colour. It is a semi dwarf usually forming a clumpish multitrunk arrangement, leaf reduction is minimal & it is less tolerant of root work than any other Callistemon I have grown.

That is great info. I didn't bother getting any in the end - as like you said, flowering is rare & like also mentioned constant pruning would lead to less colour - something to keep in mind.
