How to please the Mother in Law.

My Mother in Law, bless her little cotton socks..bought me a pot for my Birthday, and not a cheap one, Minus..you know..

feet and holes. She has done this before so i guess i must take a certain amount of responsibility for her endeavour. A stamped pot, albeit not a Bonsai pot, is something you do not throw away so we turn it into a Bonsai pot.
Read the Instructions below

of how to create a Bonsai pot from, i guess, a fruit bowl. Picture of the pot with a tree in it to follow.

My apologies to all the wonderful Aussie Potters out there, it keeps my M.I.L happy.

Bodhi, can you talk me thru how you drilled the hole without cracking it? Did you use a cutting oil or somthing?
Do. You support the middle of the pot while you are drilling? Any info you can give on this would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Kirky, i do place a block of wood inside the pot for stability and so the cutter does not explode through. The hole cutter must be good quality and this one cost 60 bucks. Having said that it has cut many holes

Water is put on regularly and go slowly. The drill press makes it soooooo much easier though.

Thanks Bodhi, hubby has a drill press so will give it a go. Do you put tape to the underside where the hole/drill will come thru? (the side where the wood support would go?)
Cheers

I do aa similar thing to add tie down holes to pots without them.
to avoid chipping on the break thru, once you have the pilot hole through, turn the pot over and drill 1/2 way thru.
i use a hose to flood with water at all times when cutting.
