A couple of small pines

I ''bred'' this tree as a seedling of Kotobuki. Obviously I can no longer call it that so I have given it the name ''Shinfuku'' which - if my Japanese translation is accurate means ''New Luck''
Anyway, it has great qualities such as short needles and finer growth than kotobuki, along with profuse budding, so I'm propagating this clone.

This one was just wired yesterday. It is about 6 years old. It was grafted at the base.

This one was branch grafted onto normal black pine. Very sparse now but you will be amazed at the difference in just one year!

A little scots. I'm interested to see how this one develops. You might noticed that I have gone OUT OF MY WAY to avoid conventional styling with the above three!

Finally a conventional red just to make everyone feel at ease again.. ;)

Cool Mike.
No.1 is my favourite of the bunch.

Question - what is happening here?

Yes I like that one too. These trees were extremely dense before I took them back to bare bones. You could not see anything! Wait and see them after a year!
There was a lump in there that had to go. Originally the right branch was higher than it is now, Carving out that area brought that branch down and now opposite the left one. One might be removed eventually, or maybe not. I'm not in any hurry to fix that right now but I did see it!
