Hey all,

I had a great response & advice on my junipers a week ago & here is an update with how one of them turned out. Jamie I have tried to lower the branches but I think for now I will leave it a bit & let it fill out. My plan is to maybe let some of the top branches thicken up a bit & then jin them when the bottom pads fill out more any comments or advice, all help & opinions are greatly appreciated.

Ryan while I admire what you are doing with your JUNIPER it is not a Australian Native. So please be aware this is for the natives in this forum.

Ryan, I think you need to put heavy wire on the branch and give it some movement. Now's the time while the foliage is still sparse but from the photo it looks like a dark chopstick with some bok choy along the length. A big of movement up and down and sideways will add immeasurable character immediately. When you shape be sure that your branchlets are on the outside of the curves and you will be pleased with the way your tree looks.

Ryan the other reason to post this in the Exotics pages. Is you will get more response from those that do more exotics.

I must agree with Melaquin it needs a lot more movement. I am disappointed that you chose the inevitable cascade, for this juniper, but it is your tree.

back to the tree, mel is right, the trunk does need a lot of movement in it and for sure it will be a hell of a lot easier to wire while sparse then down the track once it has filled and you have needle type foliage everywhere. thats the last thing you want to be doing is trying to wire around foliage
