Chimonanthus Praecox as bonsai

Anyone try? Looks nice, fragrant, looks like Prunus Mume. Only yellow colour.
Just not sure whether Sydney is too hot for it as it's from Northern China.

I tried once but never got very far. Branches die back and hard to ramify I found.

Are you having any success bonbon? I just bought one from a nursery hoping it might do ok as a bonsai (I'm in Melb, so hopefully climate will be ok). Would love to hear how you've gone or anything you have learned.
