Hello everyone, can anyone help me please. Im going to repot this and I'm now sure what angle do I have to put it in. And do I have to cut, wire any where else. I bought this couple of months ago I'm not sure or can't remember what kind of tree is this. I'm not sure if apricot.

Some sort of Prunus. At this stage i would not worry about planting angle. Do some root work when you repot though. I also would wait until flowering has finished closer to Spring and do the major work on the roots.

I agree with Bodhi. Not really advanced enough to pick a planting angle yet so you can repot it at any angle you think is good for the next few years.

Looks like a prunus of some sort to me as well. Does not look like a fruiting apricot though but I am not familiar with the flowering Japanese Apricots so that could be a possible but there are many different species in the prunus family.

I would cut the straighter parts off to try to get some bends happening. Maybe cut where I've put red lines. You could wire if you can see some better direction for the remaining branches.

Just a thought for the future. The trunk is very much the same diameter. You may like to think about cutting back later to increase the taper. Just something for you to think about.

This is what I did and I been gentle in the root did not remove much. Hope it will be alright on the pot for couple of years time.

Yes but not enough. There's only one place this can possibly be cut. Anything else will leave that ugly straight section which will only get worse and worse. Do it once and do it right,

You now have 4 branches coming from one spot.

To fix this now is much more difficult. You will need to take it out of the pot, cut off all but 1 leader and wrap it with heavy wire (copper if possible) and see if you can get some kind of movement in it. It's ok if it cracks. Then replant. In a normal plastic pot.

Too late for all our advice Treeman. He has already removed the branch that will make the best taper. What is left will probably look nice while the flowers distract eyes from the trunk.

Sir shibui, when I take a pictures on this tree I accidently drop it and crack the one on the bottom. And I just decided to live in on the big pot. Do you think do I have to cut any of the trunk?

Correct, i suggest now to prune the top hard so you get some lower branching and....start again.
