Here is a Grewia Lavender Star I have been training. It has just produced its first flower buds. Does anyone else have one?

They make nice semi and full cascades. I have had one for 3 years and have found that if you take off the flower buds for a couple of seasons it grows denser so quicker to style.

You are in luck - they grow well in this part of the world. I have just taken the wire off mine this arvo and will post a piccy when I get round to it.

If you like the flowers, then get out there each morning and cut off the flowers from the preceding day - it really promotes heaps and heaps of flowers.

I've got one! It doesn't stop growing!

I have one too. I got in trouble last year as I bought one for Danica as I thought she would like it and then I sold it at the local markets
So I had to get another. Ray didn't have any big ones so this is all I could get at the moment. Got it during winter repotted and styled a month ago and today the flowers finally opened
Will keep me out oif trouble with Danica until I can get a larger one of Ray.
They do seem great to work with

I bought one 4 days ago and have tried an air layer on it, has anyone had success doing this? I will post photos at a later date. It seems to look a lot like an elm, but with flowers.

Here is some pics of mine. I have had it about 16 months. The air layer did not work. It has a lot of straight branches which isnt cool. Any advice appreciated, Cheers.

Very nice work there. You have developed this tree very nicely indeed. You must have been doing a lot of pruning.

My only advice to you would be to look at removing or improving the first branch on the right. It look out of place, but removing it may leave to big a hole. If there is a back branch you could move to the right to fill the space I would suggest taking it off. You may like to reduce the width of the foliage to give the trunk more power.

Time to find a pot for spring and give it the credit it deserves.

I'm in the process of removing a hedge of them, as it grows way too quickly and requires constant maintenance, I will dig them all out and use as Bonsai now that I've Identified them as Grewia! Should hopefully get a few out of them!
