Self seeded pomegranate

Hi all, just found this little pomegranate yesterday under a big wedding bush against my back fence. I really needed an excuse to plant something in my bonsai pot that I got as a birthday present (from the green shed) I'm pretty happy with the subtle movement and gnarly-ness of the trunk (I have no idea how long it's been there, it grew really long runners looking for sun)
Hopefully it survives and I don't regret putting it in this pot just for the photo.
Also, thoughts on cheap pots? I mean, this doesn't look terrible...

I might be very wrong with my ID, as I found the mother bush just on the other side of the fence. We do have a pomegranate just a few metres away and the leaves were so close I didn't think twice. Main differences are that the new shoots are green and stay green for quite a while by the looks. The mother bush has old flower buds and it looks like they're quite small, clustered flowers at the end of new growth.

Hello Raymond,
Your plant looks very much like a Plumbago.
These plants tend to send up new suckers / plants from the parent plant for up to several metres. Can you see a nearby blue flowering plant
If i'm right

Plumbagos are an 'old fashioned' plant that make nice hedges. Not too sure how they will go as Bonsai though.
Interested in others thoughts for an ID.

I got plumbago from my investigation, but I'm kind of hoping it isn't. There's no flowers on the mother plant any more so that's not an easy way out.
Here's some photos if anyone else wants a go at an ID

Sorry Mate,
Your extra photos confirm a Plumbago.

Definitely a Plumbago, could have white or blue flowers, very invasive underground spreading plant. Unfortunately it doesn't make good bonsai.

Well that's sealed the deal then. I'll keep this updated and see how good a bonsai it makes, if it even works. Is there a way I can change the title of the post?
