A pic of 1 of my privets in flower, I usually don't let them flower,but when I saw all the buds I could't resist.I will cut all the dead flowers off before the beries form as they are a noxious weed where I am

They are a noxious weed everywhere. But don't they make great bonsai and your bonsai is a real treat... whenever mine flowers I do the same... let the flowers bloom and then remove... so simple on a small tree. Good going - looks very nice.

i love the privet as bonsai, harry harringtons on bonsai for me is brilliant, i wish i could find them up here, an old hedging one would be awesome!

and i think yours looks great mate, have you got an pics of it out of leaf??? i would love to see the ramification

Nice one Jonden. I took a privet into Pottery Club the other day to show the ladies a tree in one of the pots I made and they could not believe a privit could look that good. Wait till I get it to flower and show them

I assume from Jamie's words that you must have privet species (Ligustrum) which are deciduous. Ours' are all evergreen and the only way to see one leafless would be to prune all the foliage away. (A daunting thought on a small leaved variety). We do get flowers on untrimmed shoots but they are insignificant and a mixture of white and green. L. ovalifolium has widespread use here as a hedging plant and although not classed as an invasive weed, it is easily available.

Ditto all the positive comments. I also think it looks great. Privet in some locations is classified as semi-decidious (if it gets cold enough) so I doubt that you will ever see it in a leafless state where you live.

This is an evergreen one, when I cut the flowers off I will trm it right back so that it is fully defoliated. I will post a pic before the new leaves come so that you can see the branching. This tree also has an interesting trunk treatment that I will show when it is defoliated.
