Thanks, I like the progression. A little more defined deadwood is needed to improve the feel of age IMHO.

Thanks for posting. I think I remember you saying you were relatively new to bonsai ....so am I but I wish I had your vision and skills!

The progression is really pleasing to the eye and shows what can be done with seemingly difficult stock. (Well ....the orginal photo looked tricky to me anyway.)

Good stuff and I get what Watto means by defining the deadwood too... but I find that really hard to do myself...probably it's a practice and confidence thing.

If I get the guts, I'll drop a picture of a Shimpaku progression that I am doing... but it's not as clever as what I see others doing. You gotta start somewhere I suppose.

Hey MJL, I've been a member/admirer for a while and been learning a lot from here lol but still rate myself as learning hehehe All those years i've got trees and all i've been doing is looking after them... and then just recently, i woke up in trance and started working on my trees so keep doing what your doing with your tree and one day you'll be like ...bang!

I really like this, its different.
Though in my opinion I feel that more deadwood wouldn't suit the style of this tree.
I like it as is.

Wow, I like it! It has a kind of a penjing feel to it, with those acute angles. Nice work!

That's a lovely tree mate. I like the flow, that movement is gorgeous and from the original tree to what you produced, you can see the care and attention. Good job!

I'll be honest & say I'm not fond of this one sorry - styling is a little bit too "paint by numbers".
Leaves nothing to my imagination other than the word caricature.

However, many people will love this as it looks like a Bonsai.
