I thought I should start a new post as one of there isn't a shohin but these were also dug a year or two ago and it time to start their progression from stock plants to bonsai.
I don't know what others do but at my place if trees are in plastic pots they don't get as much care and attention as those in bonsai pots do, so by putting these into "proper" pots the care factor will be increased.
The first one is multi trunked which is typical of some elms that have propagated from suckers. There are two photos as I am still unsure which is my preferred viewing side.
The second one is a shohin that shows plenty of natural wear and tear (most likely caused by sheep).

Hey Watto - I like that first photo ... in my mind it had an immediate if basic story... bad stuff happened to the right of the tree one day ...

Let's think ... I don't a cow fell out of the sky and busted the right hand branches... it's windy too because the tree is windswept...which of course... immediately explains how the cow fell out of the sky.

I haven't been drinking... promise.

Seriously, I do like that first photo and and also like the English elms from suckers... (I have a few - not as mature as yours but going OK nonetheless). I find sucker elms hardy are hardy little beasts.

PS - Yes, I treat my trees in bonsai pots much better than those in plastic pots. Oh, the guilt! I like putting them in pots, albeit I am sure that prematurely stunts their growth/thickness etc...but it's an approach I prefer to take.

@KC&R - I think your friends would consider that a compliment... just.

@Watto - further to my last reasonably strange reply on this thread (and apologies for my rather poor English... missing words, repeating words .... oops) ... back on a serious note, I do like the first tree and the pot. Who made the pot - do you know?

Paul - I could arrange a dig but most deciduous trees are dug in winter so you "northerners" might have to rug up!
MJL - the pot you are referring to is by Graham Cook. He posts here regularly.
