This has been a plan for year just never found the time to construct it , with 2 operations coming up I wont be able to rotate stock manually so this plan has been completed . It started with this 250 x150 mm I beam as a pedestal sunk into 0.8 cubic metres of concrete

then a small , well constructed turntable was welded up and a stub axle and bearing attached to the under side and a threaded rod to the top side

. With a few 200 x 100mm lit-gal C section purlins laying around I used 2 x 6 metre lengths , housed them out over each other and using an over size washer/plate screwed them together

. To brace the span together I added a couple of 50mm hot house bows were bolted on
DSCN1521.JPG
and an adjuster rod made up in the center

for adjusting the tension to carry the expected 1000 kgs i plan to load onto the turntable .
I only had a couple of ARC fence panel laying around but i plan to purchase 2 more to complete the rig .

An estimated 800kgs of stock is now easier to work on and no need to rotate as a breeze will gently turn it around . Gail force winds haven't been tested but i will add an anchor of some sort if there is an issue .

Cheers Alpineart

man, you are the best! Love it!

Think the anchor might be necessary for those windy days though...

 Alpine,
Most normal people would just reduce the amount of plants they own.
Glad to see you are not normal.
$4.50 for a ride?

Simply the best!

AlpineArtman you make me smile every time. Your turntable looks to be bigger than my entire garden/courtyard!

I admire your ingenuity whether it be for your trees, your phoenix grafts or your turntable!!

Great, inspiring stuff.

... and here I was happy that I had purchased one of these https://www.carbatec.com.au/hardware-an ... bearing-12

an attached a circular piece of board to give myself a solid Lazy Susan for my little plants!

Keep posting Alpine - you’re a star!

Bonsai teaches me patience.

Hi Biocs , Half measure avail us nothing , with another couple of mesh panels and a couple of hundred kilo's of trees it will be so easy to operate even with my hands tied behind my back

Hi Mel' the corner is well protected with 2 large gum trees , a picket fence with shade cloth attached tames the wind . With storms predicted tonight and tomorrow I guess I will see any issues arise . ;)

Hi Keep calm and ramify , most normal people would set them up on individual turntable or simply rotate them on a bench . Thank god I'm not normal , by the way , Whats Normal :lost:

Hi MJL , at 6 metre's in diameter it makes better use of the lack lustre corner . I purchased a heap of small bearings to set up individual turn tables for the bigger stock , they work but not as easy as this setup

Thanks for the positive feedback .

Cheers . Alpine
