Hi all.

This is the post for this years Australia Day bonsai display

The only criteria is that the tree is an Aussie native and its in a bonsai pot with a maximum of 3 trees per person. Post the trees in this thread with your name and the trees name in the photo description. If you can take the photo with a solid background it helps the tree be seen better by the viewers.

We will create a poll after the 26th and everyone can vote. Sorry no prizes this is just for the glory.

Are the rules flexible?
I reckon if the members got them, he / she should flaunt them - the more top quality natives we see the better.

Hi Kevin. I just want to avoid having to put 400 trees in a poll. How many trees would you enter in a normal show? In saying that. No rules. If you think it is necessary to enter more than three go ahead. I’m hoping many participate but let’s hope it’s not 5 trees each from all 9500 members

Ok. I'll kick it off with a Lilly Pilly. Pretty sure its a cultivar of Syzygium smithii. It has pretty thin leaves

Here’s my entry number 1.

It’s a banksia Integrifolia. I’ve had this for about 8 years. It’s about 750mm high. My biggest bonsai by about 400mm. My camera skills leave a lot to be desired.

I have nothing in my collection of native twigs. In honour of some amazing trees that I have seen at the National Collection at the Aboretum in Canberra - here are three! (Sorry if I am stuffing this up by adding these to the thread but they are some of the best I have seen.)

These photos below have the name of the artist in the photo.
Oh, and this from BSV - I wish I knew who. Bl@@dy beautiful. The ducks guts as some might say!

Greeting all
.First up is a Coastal Teatree I have been working on. Repotted a little late this year so a little slow on new growth. This Tree came from an area were a bushfire had been .All growth is new and the stump on the right is part of the tree. The jin is original and no work has been done on it.

Boom! I bl@@dy love that tree - especially the way you have it mounded in the round pot - a what a pot too. Great match. It’s interesting you say it’s from a fire ravaged area - there is a definite mark of power and survival to that tree. Thanks for posting the photo.
