HI all,

This years Bonsai By the The Harbour will feature Masayuki Fujikawa. An apprentice of Masahiko Kimura. He has just finished demoing the Noelanders trophy/awards in Belgium.

If you come to BBTH you will be one of the first to see Mr Fujikawa in Australia. He is only relatively young, but he has quite a reputation in Europe already. You can come on Saturday or Sunday or you can come on both days but please phone or email Denise to let her know. It is a great venue down by the Parramatta River and there is plenty of parking off the street right down the end of Wharf Road, Gladesville. Come and see and meet our new international presenter from Japan and catch up with his friend and translator Adam Webster.

I’m very much looking forward to meeting new people and helping Mr Fujikawa with communication. I think I’m also scheduled to do a short talk about my apprenticeship and life in Japan.. it’s going to be fun. If you haven’t booked in, you should, this event shouldnt be missed by anyone serious about Bonsai.

The 14th BBTH has just finished, lots of food was eaten, many great refined trees came out of the worshops and over 30 people enjoyed a BBQ at this Gladesville rowing facility with excellent critiques by Grant and Mr Fujikawa. The master was not afraid to do serious bends without raffia, providing that he had done a lot of massaging beforehand. Australia is just one of many countries he has now visited as a demonstrator. We were lucky to have the pairing of Adam Webster and Mr Fujikawa, nothing was missed in translation.

peccavi. How could I leave out the great talk and demonstration given by the ever improving Evan Marsh with a huge old radiatapine that had to be repotted and then the Hood brothers who styled a massive tree like juniper. These guys are testament to the fact that we have great talent in Australia as well.
