Found this little guy lerking around



Named after tgward’s post, this guy is not so scary

Anyone know what type of frog he is?

It’s called a ‘lucky frog’ ... lucky it doesn’t live near tgward’s joint.

Not a lot of diagnostics to work with there.. but Litoria tyleri is a fair shot in my view.

Lots of common names... and, like all frogs, hugely variable colour and pattern.

The ‘star’ pattern in the iris is a nice diagnostic to look for. The ‘laughing’ call is another.

I just looked at how many frogs are around the area... wow yeah probably needed to take a few more photo but he was a little camera shy

It is a tree frog by the pads on the feet so Litoria is a good start for the genus and should narrow the range quite a lot. Just check and see which Litoria species occur in your area. I think we only have one of them down here - Litoria perroni but ours look quite different to yours. Dave sound like he knows what he's talking about so try following his leads.

That little guy has a smug little smile. Looks like he’s leaning on his forearm ... reasonably happy in the sun.

Almost definite it's a perons tree frog.

Next time ones walking around see if it's got a yellow and black pattern tight between its rear legs. Can be pretty hard to spot though!
