Belated pine

So I have just trawled through all my posts trying to find a thread for this pine and realised I never posted a thread for it (probably not a bad thing as I used to post everything i touched)

Anyway I got this tree as raw stock at the start of 2015 and proceeded in my typical newb fashion at the time to construct a tree out of entirely the wrong bones, and realistically in a style that would never work

Anyway I wont expose you to the initial horror styling, and will instead show the tree before any work, and as it stands today, freshly repotted

well, maybe one after the cleanup, yikes!

And today

I don't know why at the time I didn't create a thread for this tree, as I probably would have been chuffed with my work, I find myself and my trees far more modest these days, and my visions of what I have achieved so far, and how far my trees have to go, are I hope much more grounded. I am trying to grow the best trees that I can, and keep my trees in the best shape they can be, not just in they way the present on my bench, but primarily in the health and vigour of the trees themselves.

This was secondary to the styling and rush to create a bonsai when I began (funny how time can cure the urge to rush), and while I made many mistakes, I have learnt many lessons, and am lucky enough to come out of it with some trees to show for my journey, and some hopes for the future

What an articulate few paragraphs to support this thread - well said Kerrin.

I seem to be trying to escape a phase you went through in your earlier bonsai days ... making designs too complex perhaps.

To reflect your own words on this little tree - modest, grounded, healthy.

Another lovely tree.
