These were salvaged from a landscape clean up on my day off they have been soaking in water for a few days as the job was 100 k's from home . Very nice multiple movement trunks on the Squamata Prostata the Juniper Chinensis has 1 good trunk for an informal upright . A 3 hour marathon just to to dig these will hopefully pay off . Pensioner discounts apply to the labour and I have offered a healthy price to the owners for the trunks .The elderly gent told me they were 10 years old , ground growing pays off .

Mate it looks like you'll be needing some amber coloured anaesthetic after that marathon dig
Every difficult dig I have done so far I tell myself, "stuffed if I'm ever doing that again"
That seems to work only until fate intervenes with yet another opportunity.
Somehow trees in the ground almost always look so much easier to dig up than they actually are

Hi MJL , been misbehaving as usual and paying the penalty for it . This was a reward for not say no to more work as if i need more .

Been as busy as a beaver and no spare time to even look at a computer let alone bonsai . Lost a lot of stock over the last few months but thats what happens when they get neglected .

Hi robb63 , no amber fluid for this old bloke , slow enough now . These were up against a concrete block footing and had grown under the foundation so it was a challenge to get them out without to much damage to the site or the trunks .
I hope they survive , they haven't wilted since digging so that a good sign that the roots are taking up water . I have potted them into big tubs , no pots here big enough to accommodate the bases .

I've heard of a collector up here who uses a gerni-like machine to dig yamadori... I'm thinking of trying it here soon!

Hi Mel' , A gerni would damage the bark if it hit the roots or trunk , mine has 2500 psi pressure , it is used to rip the bark off deadwood trunks and is very unforgiving .

A garden hose is an easier way for sure and less harmful to the bark but it makes a mess . At home its good , but customers wouldn't appreciate all the wasted water and mud in the process .

Hi Ian, Yes I could see that would be a problem, but she seems to have good success with it.
