Japanese Black Pine (JBP) development advice

Hi all,
Have had differing ideas on where to head with my JBP which has lead to a bit of confusion.
Initially I was thinking about developing it into a Semi-Cascade but now I have had second thoughts and am thinking an informal upright would be a good direction.
Considering the above, is any one able to provide advice on:
- The direction that I should head with the JBP.
- How I can propagate cuttings and/or is air layering more suitable (this would obviously depend on the direction I head with the style) &
- What is appropriate fertiliser to use throughout winter.
Any advice/ comments would be great!
Cheers
PS
Dont know why the photos are rotated when I uploaded them - sorry
