The Tall Skinny Plum

In August 2018 I dug this plum and I have been pleasantly surprised by the growth rate and health of this tree. I generally have a "rule" not to work on yamadori for about two years but I made an exception for this one and trimmed and wired it in July this year.
This is a bit different and I think this has a future.

Not bad for under one year Watto, plenty of good progress. Nice job
How tall roughly is it?

PS: I’m missing your blog updates, hopefully you can get a fix and get back to it ASAP... :fc:

It stands about 110cm currently.
I'm missing the blog too and I have my fingers crossed that it will be back up and running soon, I need a place to write all my bull dust!!!!!

I'm liking the shape you're attaining there Watto! There is always room for a tall and elegant tree in my garden.

Do they need a deeper root run than most? I'll look forward to seeing what you choose, Watto!

Nice Watto. Brings back fond memories - I used to climb my nana’s plum tree and pick (and eat) heaps. Looking forward to watching the progress of your tree.

Well, it is two years since this was dug and of course now is the time to pot it in a bonsai pot for the first time. This is a Pat Kennedy pot but I don't think this will be the long term pot for this tree. Although it is a good size, I think a glazed pot in a greenish colour would be more suitable, probably a bit larger but not quite so deep. Alas I can't get out and about to see pots (or any other bonsai related activities actually) so this pot will be its home for a year or two.
It will be flowering soon and I am looking forward to that. If it has fruit I will allow a few on the tree just for fun.

Thanks Pat, I know your opinion would be unbiased.
Kirky, there will be flowers soon and there is a little bit of early white occurring.
