Does any one know where to take material for professional assessment?

A good arborist from a reputable firm should be able to help.

Maybe take it to some sort of uni/tafe and find a Plant-Microbe or Horticultural type scientist...there are lots at the uni I go to but it is a fair drive from Parkes! :?
There are some Charles Sturt Universities out that way that teach Enviro. Science and should have someone who can diagnose that sort of thing. Although they would want to take a section of your plant, which I suppose is no real problem as whatever is causing the symptoms might be taking your plant anayway!

There appears to be some Horticultural courses at Orange which might be your closest campus..

If youre willing to spend up to $150 bucks then check this site http://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/science/Ou ... ic_service
Its a good service if you have rare old specimens. Make sure you follow their packaging instructions.

Thanks guys I got a couple of leads today. Waiting on a call and Apparently you can send a leaf into the Australian Museum and they do insect type ID.

The link Edward gave was very helpful I am waiting on a call back. It does seem like these are the experts and should know.
