Foliage and Root Prune in One Go

I have a Squamata that I've just given a rough styling, removing about 1/3 of the foliage. It's very healthy so would it be OK to prune the roots by half and transfer it to a Bonsai pot?

I've done that a number of times with other junipers without any problem. Young, healthy trees can tolerate things that older trees will not. Squamata is also pretty resilient so should come through OK.
