Start of Trident Maple Forest

In June 2017 I received some 30 bare-rooted tridents from shibui to start this little group planting. And yes MJL, there's always one. Of the 30, 29 survived and thrived. I planted them in small groups and singles and they flourished, but I'll let the pictires tell the story. I've probably posted some of these pics previously, but this makes a reasonable progression now, even if it's only a couple of years worth.

Now it will be time for patience to develop these trees and probably repositioning some, as there are some gaps that tend to distract from the overall feel of the group. If they get too crowded as they grow they may also need thinning out. But so far so good.
Cheers, Frank.

Ok - you're confusing me now Frank.

This forest... is this forest
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=27246&p=269072&hi ... nt#p269072 and I like both, lots.

I am looking forward to watching the progression, in stereo.
I really like the how the trees have been placed; it's interesting and I think the thoughtful positioning draws the viewer into the group. It does for me anyway.

Yes Mark, it's the same forest, the other post was from when it was put into its first pot a couple of months ago. Since then it's gone bananas and I had to give it its first haircut 2 weeks ago.

I like the interesting trunk shapes you have put together Frank.

They certainly do take off. I'm letting mine get really vigorous to get the roots merging. I've only removed a potential bar branch and thinned the multiple shoots back to one. I was advised to partially defoliate (the large leaves) down the track to let the light in.

Frank
Who made your pot? I like the colour & the matt glaze finish.

Hi KC &R, I don't know who made the pot, it has a very faint & indistict mark underneath in the centre. I bought the pot at an auction at the Gold Coast & Tweed Bonsai Club several months ago. Sorry I couldn't help.
Frank.
