Olive

While trimming the pines last week I saw this olive had a few long shoots that needed a trim. 30cm diam pot for scale.

Most of the developing shoots have been cut back to 1 or 2 pairs of leaves. It will not produce new buds from the leaves below the cut ends to give me better ramification.
This tree was collected on one of our club digs a few years ago. You can see that I've been playing with carving the trunk to disguise where a taller trunk was removed.

I think this “not” is meant to read “now”?!

Some more olives that I've collected from farmland and roadsides in the area.

Of course when these ones are pruned they WILL bud from the leaves near the ends of the cut twigs
