Hey guys been into bonsai for about 18 months. I really love figs and have about 10 in growing pots and some as bonsai.

I want to grow a few over the next 10 years to be very large bonsai.

So my question is how should I approach it to grow a large base. Currently I have some in the mix from bonsai south and I have some in acadama pumice and scoria. Do I let them elongate then clip and grow or should I wire the leader into the movement I want and let everything grow

Thanks

Same as any other tree,
Let the leader extend then wire to shape for future movement.
Cut back to a new shoot to develop taper.

Feed and water well and repeat as often as required.
