Hello all does anyone know where I can get orchard squat port pots from 200mm to 300 mm. Ebay is just rediculously expensive.

Yep, direct from the makers at Port Pots trading as The Orchid Pot Co. They will post them out to customers and do smaller or bulk orders.
Last time I checked they did not have online orders so you need to ring and talk.

Jake and Neil thanks very much for the info. I will get onto them after work tomorrow. Getting sick of cutting large pots down to reduce depth.

Agreed. Orchid pots look good, last for ages, easy to handle and have good drainage and aeration.
I find that it best to line the larger 30cm pots because the drain holes are just large enough for my mix to leak out over time.

I’ve used newspaper but found they degrade over time. Few mates use drainage mesh or just a larger particle size as bottom drainage layer.

Hey thanks for this.... this is an excellent and much cheaper source than I have used in the past. Much appreciated.

I've been running a band of plaster tape around the inside of these pots to cover the side openings then a few more bits over the outermost drain holes in the base. The inner ones are small enough and don't need to be covered for my mix.
Shadecloth or insect window screen are both suitable if you have a source. I have plenty of damaged fly screen mesh after a dachshund lived with us for a while so I should make more use of that.

To screen off the drainage holes I use coconut fibre (small bags from the big green shed). A small amount around the lower edges of the pot then a drainage layer of pumice or similar, then the potting mix. Orchid pots are great!

As an added benefit, some of the larger pots have small holes in the top lip too. These are great for guy-wires .... acknowledging that it is often best to tie guy-wires to a trunk or root .. the edge of the pot can be handy sometimes too.
