Hi peeps,
I have a shimpaku which I've wired and had for about a year now. the growth has been really slow and there was an accident once where the pot fell off the bench and the roots were exposed. For how long I do not know
What I wasnt sure about is how the foliage looked like. Its kinda elongated isnt it? I'm aware that when shimpakus are recovering from an injury, they push out juvenile growth but this doesnt look like it.

The foliage is fine.

If you want tighter growth (tufts closer to branch or trunk) apply a pruning regime. Also expose to more sun.

There's no problem with your shimapku despite its adventures and mishaps. All looks perfectly normal to me and the long growth is also entirely normal although frustrating. They don't grow out of hand but still do need pruning to get and maintain tight foliage.
juvenile growth is spiky like the squamata and procumbens junipers. You will know when it happens.
