Hi guys, am just wondering whether the principles of black pine care can be applied to the white pine.
Ive been scouring the internet and even the many bonsai today magazines that I have but I can't find much on the white pine.

All I know is that it's slower growing, one flush and needs less water compared to the black.
But in terms of maintenance, needle and candle management, are they similar with the blacks?

Definitely do not use black pine technique on any single flush pines. They cannot grow new shoots after decandling so cannot handle that treatment.
How to manage the JWP depends on what stage it is up to.
Developing trees can be treated similar - let grow then prune back hard above the lowest needles to get back buds.
Similar treatment can be used to start ramification. Often just allowing the shoot to grow without pruning at all will cause back buds on that branch.

I only have a few young white pines so don't know a lot about maintenance of the species. This resource from Bonsai nut is for Mugho pine but may be a starting point as they are both single flush species. Also search for info on Scots pine. I believe they also grow similar.
