think I'd have to give up my day job to have the time needed --not sure I'd be able to keep it alive in our summers

Hi tgward , mate the slab just works like deep tray , the way it has been raised around the perimeter and the planting raised above the slab .
They survive here with up to 48 degrees in summer which is rather extreme to say the least . The biggest issue is the slab heating up and boiling the roots , just keep out of direct summer sun and they will survive anywhere .
The 40 trunk Shohin trident planting posted recently will end up on a slab be it granite , poly marble or something I make
The drainage base holds water the diatomite ? retains moisture the moss insulates the soil the the perimeter wall basically hols it all together working like a retaining wall on a dam .
Thank for posting
Cheers . Alpineart
