I finally got around to putting up my new shade set up for my trees. stupid me had to do it on the hottest weekend
in november.

Looking good, and a very nice collection, but I can't help but feel that a strong gust of wind will bring it down on one or more of your prized trees. I recommend putting in corner braces for stability.

the wire fence went up as soon as i had finished,
she chewed through the plastic one and got a few little 1s
when i first set it up, 2 yrs ago.
but she was a pup , so couldnt stay mad at her for to long.

Nice collection, even love the Budda. You did this on your own in 43+ weather, you poor thing. But now its worth it Hey! Another job out of the way.
Your trees look great,i see you have a Wholemi Pine also. Mine is sick at the moment it was planted in the garden but didnt like the spot i put it in. ill have to use it for Bonsai now. The lable said not to fertilise & it loves poor soils, no other info. what fertiliser should i use on mine. cheers!

very nice collection you got there mate i am interested in what you are doing with the maple i before 2 pic it is right in the middle, it looks like it has a plastic pot around the trunk? the one in the blue and white glazed picture pot?
could you maybe show us some close ups or explain what ya trying out there ???

Jamie, im trying to layer that trident. i has two FAT roots and thats all!. so trying to layer it above them.
the trunks about as thick as a longneck,lol. it didnt root last year so see this year.

awesome mate sounds like you will have a winner if you can get it going are you planing on showing us a progression once you get it going??

sweet, look forward to seeing it, you shouldnt have any drama getting it to strike, you have a lot of foliage on it to push roots aswell, you said it didnt take last year? how wide did you make the ring bark? i generally as a rule of thumb go 2 times the thickness of the trunk at the point i wish to layer but being such a big trunk you probly didnt have to much room to work with to go that far.
like i said, i look forward to seeing it, and some of your others

Hopefully this will give the trees some relief. You are right about the pup, can't stay mad at him all the time! And great to see you are drinking Grolsh whilst on the job.

Hi Petra,

I also have a Wolemi pine I intend to bonsai one day, because of the foliage it will probably have to be large. Mine is kept in speckled sun under the canopy of a tree and gets about 1 hour of direct sunlight a day at about midday. I feed mine Seasol and it loves it. The main leader grew about 20cm in 2 months at around 15mm in diameter. I received a heap of information when I bought mine regarding fertilizing, growth patters/dormancy periods, pruning etc. I'm pretty sure a fertilizer for natives is the go but I'm at work now so I'll check when I get home.
