So I dug this pomegranate out this morning at a close by property. As you can see it’s quite large, any advice on where I should chop? At the moment I’ve just chopped it back to fit onto the ute. Advice appreciated.

OK, so I think the kid below kinda sums up my reaction when I saw this ... ... that thing is HUGE ... too big for me I think but I wish you luck with it, whatever happens it's gonna take a while to develop into something.
I want to see the progresion!

If you have a pot big enough to take it "as is" that would be great. Wooden box's are great. I would then just leave it to its own devices for at least a year so that you can see where it pops new growth. The next chop would be in two years if it were mine.
By the way, that is a dig.

Thanks Watto for the advice. The base was surprisingly flat, I’ll get pics as I’m deciding on what to place it in. Also, I’m going to leave it as is now rather then chop it further down before replanting. Much appreciated.

It will be interesting to see this in flower and hopefully fruit in a couple of years.

First and foremost, I hope it survives. My first digs of any plant ever only had about a 20% success rate so I hope I’m better educated now hehe. But yes, will be good to see where growth will be. So I’m going to leave the trunks that long.

Its a beast that is for sure. Once it starts shooting pinch the top growth as you don’t want it any taller. It will help to force/push out the lower buds. How big a pot do you think you’ll need for it? Looks huge.

I trimmed the entire tree to 2.2m which was the length of the tray top just so it would fit. No pot, just a makeshift box which took the most of an arvo to build.
