Hi all, i've had this fairly big slash pine for a while now and was planning on using it for a niwaki garden tree.
Its got some pretty fabulous bark but the super long droopy needles are a little off putting and most of what i've tried and read has suggested that slash pines dont reduce particularly well.

Sooooo, i was wondering whether grafting japanese red pine scions onto the main branches might be a possible solution?
The only thing i can see as a potential issue is the difference in growth rates creating ugly bulges at the graft points, so i was curious what others on here thought about the idea?

Slash pines seem to have a pretty similarly strong growth rate to radiatas for those not familiar with them
