Pot Colour

Here’s a general question for everyone. I have a fairly large white glazed drum pot that I purchased many years ago when I first started bonsai. I have never used it and it has sat around (no pun intended) waiting for the right tree.
So my question is what would you plant in a white round pot? Interested to hear your thoughts.
Cheers

To me a white pot always works for an aged deciduous tree with beautiful mature bark. The pot compliments the bark and also hints at snow in winter.

I really like Gavin's camellia in a white (cream?) pot that was posted a little while ago: https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/forum/view ... 1&p=278809

Thanks Greg, I remember the post but forgot the white pot. I do have a couple of old Camellias.

Agree Tim, old mature bark on deciduous trees looks good, only have Hawthorns that would suit the colouring.

Thanks Watto, may need to look out for some English Elms, the Chinese and Corky Bark Elms are not the right colour.
Have a few old Oaks but I’m not sure the pot would do them justice.

Good stuff keep them coming folks.

My camellia pot is definitely cream. Stark white I find is quite difficult to match up with a tree - as with Watto's, it needs to be a strong and stark tree to balance with the colour. Deciduous would be a good start.

Think I got this pot for a Willow I was developing its definitely white.

Thanks Gavin I did think yours was more cream, have a couple of nice cream ones for the Camellias.

I think Ken my be the winner with a Prunus cerasifera nigra ‘Fastigiata’. Will give it a go and see. I can always repot it next year if I don’t like it.

Thanks guys :tu:

That's a lovely trunk, Pat - are you branching out? (Sorry.) Bonsai nursery next?
