I’ve been enjoying the repotting and collecting threads so I thought I would start one too now that I have started to repot . There is a mixture of good ,bad and ugly trees I’ll let you decide which is which . Shown in order of repotting .
So to start some Japanese Quinces .
Orange flowering , small leafed . This one I eventually want to have a flame shape to show off the flowers .It hasn’t flowered much the last couple of years after a mishap with a dog snapped most of the branches off . It’s a European pot ,really beautiful colours

This one has only ever spot flowered ,it has white flowers . The bottom half trunks have grafted on to each other . I’ve tried to approach graft the top section with no success .The pot is European and it’s quite unstable being a bit top heavy , it sits in a bird cage which stops it blowing away and been munched on by feral deer .

Very creative designs ,love them both. Was the thread tree started by you or by good old mother nature ? Good luck with the flowers. Cheers John.

very nice Sno - I like that they have an "untamed" look - even though one's sitting in a cage :D

Thanks John . The bottom half was nature which is the better half . I have thought about reducing it down to that .

Thanks KCR . The caged one has tried to escape a few times , when the wind comes through it likes to rattle the bars .

I can’t remember what colour flower this one was . It used to be a lot taller but I trashed it by leaving some wire on it too long . It was trunk chopped and started into more of a broom style . It should start to flower again soon ,I’m still looking for the right pot, it’s been in and out different pots since the chop .

This one has single petaled red flower . It flowered well last year ,this year it will only spot flower . I defoliated it in the middle of summer to try and improve the ramification with mixed results . The new leaves hung on all winter and I had to defoliate just before the repot . It’s in a PK pot ,love this pot .

This one has a double flowering pink and red flower , really nice colours . I got this from Pedro Pio Bonsai a few or so years ago . At the time I had admired the base but was put off by the top ,it was growing in a 12 inch pot . I dismissed it and was driving home ,when I got about twenty kms away I had to turn around and go back for it . As you do . The base is as big as my fist and I thought to myself that you don’t see that every day in a Chaenomele . I repotted it into a garden seive with the idea of air layering the top off and growing a clump style from the base .Over time I have grown to like the quirkiness of it so this year I put it into a ‘Graham ‘ pot . The photos don’t show the pot off well but it’s quite a quirky pot too .

Wow Sno you have a really small fist  but seriously I really like the tree its very quirky. I really enjoy the twisting trunk line, similar to the seiju elm i got off you last year. :tu:

Heart .
So I had a look at this one today . It’s a project I started 5 or so years ago . These were cuttings taken from the orange clump style quince . I have a couple of these on the go it’s a bit like Christmas you don’t know what you’re going to get until you have unwrapped the present . I took a peak and think I’ll wait till next year ,2021 will be better .

Thanks Watto . one of my addictions is pots , I have more than I do trees . I gave up smoking nearly 11 years ago and part of that was to spend the money I save on something else . So far I haven’t spent close to one years worth of smoking .
