I have Junipers where the buds have just opened. It's pretty cold here in Melbourne about 12C. Is there any benefit waiting a bit longer before doing a repot?

I have repotted a few of my shimpaku junipers already but they don't seem to mind root pruning a bit later either. I often leave pines and junipers till after all the deciduous are done and have leaves.
There does not seem to be any benefit but no harm repotting a bit later either.

So the fact that It's still really cold isn't a problem for the tree to recover after the root prune?

Most trees are quite resilient. There is a far longer window of repot opportunity than some of the experts allow.
I start root pruning maples at the start of July. I dug and potted a number of shimpaku junipers a few weeks ago and expect them all to survive despite the cold and wet conditions.
I also repotted a number of shimpaku in pots in the past few weeks. They all had plenty of new roots so are actually responding to spring under the ground already.

I repotted a few small Shimpaku Junipers 3 weeks ago, all seem to be doing well despite the current cold in Melbourne.
