Collected Diosma

I collected this diosma a month ago and managed to get a very large root ball. It was placed in a make shift green house for the past month and it now starting to look healthy.

About one third of the branches have growth on them and it’s started growing since collection. I’m worried the branches with no growth may die off with no sap flow.

I think it has potential to be an awesome clump style tree. It has beautiful foliage and really fine branches.

The wood is very hard and was very hard to saw through the branches.

Anyone had experience with this species.? There isn’t much info on them and have read different opinions on wether they can handle and bounce back from a drastic prune.

This species looks like it should make good bonsai but I have never seen one so I hope yours thrives and you can make a beautiful bonsai out of this. I also hope you will document the progress so we may all learn something.
Good luck with it.

Based on my experience with Diosma in the garden, I think you will find they will not shoot from old wood, and certainly not from bare branches.
