Hey all, I have taken a few Port Jackson Fig cuttings, some of the earlier ones taken this year have new growth coming through & I was after some tips on how to transplant the cuttings from the propagation box to individual pots without stressing or damaging the roots?

Ryan, These will transplant with very little trouble. Just tease the roots a little and away you go. Aftercare I would suggest partial shade until established. Water with Seasol at first and then treat normally until next Spring until the next repot. Let the seedlings grow as they will to establish a decent nebari. You can cut them back as hard as you like after a couple of years,

Excellent, I also checked on a few others that I took about 1 and 1/2 months ago, ranging from trunk diameters of 30mm to 80mm an it looks like there is some new growth starting to show, even on the larger ones. At the moment that are just in a foam box in propagating sand with a Glad wrap plastic nursery cover, when do you think I should transplant them? Should I wait another month of so until they develop stronger roots. I looks like I have had about 70% success so far, but that was only after a sneak peak this morning.

I'll put some photo's up when I pot them, but I'll be pretty happy if they are successful

Its been about 8 weeks now & all the cutting are charging along, I'm to scared to dig into the sand to see how strong there roots are. As I have a few cuttings in each container I'm worried they may start intertwining.

Do you think I'm safe to Pot them individually now? Maybe a Thirds mix of Soil, Propagating Sand & Zeolite?

Is it best to try & keep as much of the original propagating sand around the new roots & pot around that?

I'll post some photos soon. I'm pretty happy my Large cutting of 100mm base has taken beautifully.

Any Advice?
