Are we in for a early Autumn ?

so in NE in the valley we have had 3 mornings of around 8 degrees or just below . This morning was quite a nice dew . With the recent rain and quite mild temperatures for this time of summer im wondering is a early autumn on the cards . The last several autumns here have been very late to start and quite warm. I base my autumns of the fallow deer rut in my valley that usually begins the 3rd week of march into mid april . That rut is dependant primary on the following conditions
1. cold nights and mornings
2. a sudden frost

The colder it is the better the rut in general . Now back to bonsai , everything is looking pretty damn nice for this time of year . usually by late summer things are struggling a fair bit . Proberly the best ive seen it up this way this time of year since 2011.
The next 2 weeks will proberly tell if the worst of the summer heat is behind us . Some rains in WA and parts of the NT might have taken abit of the sting out of the desert ........

Dunno about an early autumn, I'm still waiting for summer.
There have been some sporadic days of heat and sun but on the whole this has been the coolest, wettest start to the year I can remember. I guess this "La Nina" thing really does have a pretty decent impact on temperatures and seasonal conditions in general. I think I'd like a bit more traditional summer for the sake of my pines ... they really thrive when it's hot and a bit drier.
On the plus side your garden is looking pretty sweet!

Definitely cooler and wetter summer this year, this time last year my water tanks(67000 ltr capacity) were at 30% running at 95 % at the moment. Some of the street Oaks are starting to turn already.

If every summer was like this my deciduous growing would be much easier! Last year I was moving them indoors for 35+ and out again at night for days and weeks on end. This year I’ve not bothered once I don’t think.

Best summer for years as far as I’m concerned, I hate the hot weather.

Its funny I was wondering the same thing on the weekend. We have London Plain trees in the street that have already started to drop a lot of leaves. The roses in the garden too have lost the lower half of their leaves too.
Agree with Tim best summer for awhile. I hate the heat! Officially Autumn starts in three weeks.

Definitely a mixed bag ... my JM seedlings have had their latest growth spurt. My giant trident is still shooting new leaves, with some established leaves turning red. Bit confused all round.

I bet that if you pruned the roses back, give them a good handful of blood and bone and mulched and soaked them for a couple of days, they will start growing again. I think it's a lack of water and nutrients rather than the temperature.

They are well watered and well fed, standard rose growing really well and tall only the bottoms of them have started to lose leaves. Still in full flower at the top so don’t need pruning either. Street and gutters are full of plain tree leaves too.

Eeep, my giant trident has since turned mostly yellow. Either autumn readiness, or also, likely lack of water.
