The Plum Needs a Pot. Advice Please

I dug this plum a year or two ago and I quite like it. It has some time to go and a lot of work to be done but it is moving in the right direction. A bit of carving will smarten it up no end me thinks.
But, I want to pot it and I am very unsure which way to go, a rugged pot to match the ruggedness of the tree, something slightly more elegant or maybe an old Japanese pot to give it some sophistication.
I would appreciate your opinions if you could spare the time.
Thanks

The first pot would probably be my pick for this one. A little height lifts the tree so the very low branches are not so close to the table.
2nd elegance also looks good - smaller diameter and a touch more height than the others to lift the tree again.

The Japanese pot is tall enough but appears just a bit too square and too large but the size could be an illusion due to the tree being behind.

A few nice options here Watto, are they all your pots except the Japanese one?

I like the shape and flow of the rugged crescent pot but the clay and detail glaze colours don't seem to work for me.

I think I like elegant #2 the best, round pots seem to work well with skinny and heavily asymmetric designs. I also think the tree will grow into the pot well, the light glaze will look great once the bark darkens and the tree will soften its curves a bit with some more growth to become more elegant/feminine.

I also like the Japanese pot as its sharper and indented corners match the more angular design of the tree at the moment.

I'd be keen to hear your thoughts and see how it looks once potted.

For me I like the last two more elegance and the old Japanese pot do it for me. Agree round pots are alway easier.
Nice tree.

My vote is the rugged look #1, the way the back comes up mirroring the trunk is schmiko in my book

I like the two elegant options, probably leaning more towards #2 - the colours of those with the bark work for me. Keen to see this tree after a bit of a carve.

Elevation & unglazed - especially when you get it covered in delicate blossoms - It's the old Japanese pot for me. Classic!

#1 (cascade pot) to match the trees movement but preferably #4 (round cream pot) for when it flowers. The cream pot is still rugged enough in its glaze to work for the tree when it's not flowering and will be a great contrast to the foliage when in leaf.

Cheers,
Pearcy.

Not sure there is a “right” answer here but looking at the options the cream “More elegance” pot seems to sing the right song when I look at the tree in question. I wouldn’t be offended should you choose otherwise, it’s an embarrassment of possibilities you put forward Watto.

First one imo it’s very closely resembling the branch structure !

A great range of options and opinions here Watto, save us the agonising wait, what are you choosing and why?

Thank you all so very much. The comments were very intuitive and I can confidently rule out the second rugged pot as well as the first elegant pot. I am still agonising over which one but the decision will be made soon and I will most certainly post up a photo.
If luck is with me I might give it a bit of a carve this weekend, before the repot.
