I have had this tree for quite some time and a few years it had an accident. It was a semi cascade style but got blown off its stand in the yard and the cascade branch broke off - and there were tears
Since then it has sat in the yard waiting for some inspiration to redesign it. This week I have done a small bit of work and now I am considering changing the viewing side (you know - the front) but indecision is my greatest enemy so I am seeking your thoughts and suggestions if you would be so kind.
To begin, this is how it looked in 2015.

Hey Watto,

I'm guessing the apex is leaning away from you but I like the second angle. The base of the tree looks similar from either angle but in the second photo you can see under the branches and the whole structure looks fuller.

I also like #2… with a bit of wire I think this will work better for you than the other alternative shown.
I agree with Matt S, in that from what I gather from the pics, the tree moves away in this view, which is why some wire to massage direction would be needed I think.

Another vote for No. 2. That view displays the trink/branch line to advantage and highlights the beautiful bark.

One of the great benefits of being a member of a bonsai club is that you get to put a tree up on a table and spin it, turn it, tip it, tilt it and generally roll it upside down if necessary to get views and ideas on improvement to the design. Unfortunately that is not possible at the moment.
I only say that because it is difficult for others to see the real tree in a 2D photo.
However I do really appreciate the feedback given on this tree and agree that view No. 2 is best and as such I have moved the apex forward (I hope that shows in the photo) with the help of some wire and I am very happy with the result. Thank you all again.
My next problem it will now need a repot but that will have to wait until late February or early March.

I definitely appreciate that it can be hard to get a real grip on the 3D form of a tree in a 2D format (like photos) ... what one person sees in a picture, another may interpret differently and it is only when the tree is in front of you that you can be sure everybody is on "the same page".
Photos don't lie ... but they are open to interpretation.
Having said all that, I think you made the right choice and the work you have done has helped move it forward with the new front in mind. I like it, but what's most important though is you are happy with it in the end.
