Funny Little Port Jackson

I've been eyeing off this sale tree in a friend's collection for some months and finally bit the bullet. What I saw was not what I wanted but nothing like a sharp pair of sidecutters to start the ball rolling - or the branches flying...

It is ugly as hell now but once it starts budding and gets some balance and the tree becomes visually stronger than the pot it will improve. I KNOW I should take it out of this pot and put it in a larger training pot until it develops more but I am hoping it will suit the pot as it is the size ratio I want.

And the real joy of this pot with a fig in it is that the pot has a slight lip and it is going to be hell removing the fig when repotting comes around. But what the hell.. a challenge is always good in life. At the moment it looks somewhat like the dog sitting on the Tucker Box ....

It does look like the dog on the tucker box.

How far are you taking the cascade?

I've bit the bullet and put it in a larger grow on pot. The main [only] branch is growing downward and to bring it up will be difficult. I'll play with the tree and see about changing direction but I just have a cascade feel about this tree... and not a terribly long cascade or maybe just a semi-cascade. I want to keep it small and able to be potted back into the rust semi-cascade pot next year. Let's say cascade or semi enough to stop looking like You Know Who on You Know What.

I'll just add to the post by saying I love what you did with the fig and I absolutely love the pot. I'm not a fig lover but one cannot help but admire this one.

More like a turkey with his head on the block. i agree with Jamie the new leader would look better up. but id have it more of a broom style.
